What is Trauma?
Traumatology is the discipline of our specialty that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the Locomotive System produced by a traumatic agent.
Injuries can be "high energy" when the traumatic agent acts of violence motor vehicle accidents, high-risk sports, precipitation) and "low energy" when the agent acts with less intense trauma.
Locomotive diseases of trauma origin can affect from the outermost surface to the deepest bone, producing a vast array of injuries that require prompt diagnosis and specialized treatment. To do this, our team has specialized in minimally invasive Traumatology, which involves the use of instruments and implants designed to replace large incisions with minimal trauma thus getting less tissue aggression and reducing postoperative pain while accelerating the healing process.
What is the difference between Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery?
Doctors who treat these types of traumatic injuries have the qualification known as "Specialists in Orthopedic Surgery", which means we treat two types of injuries: problems of the musculoskeletal system of progressive appearance (also known as chronic injuries) and problems with an immediate onset (know as acute injuries).
