Entropion

What is entropion?

It is a condition that involves the turning in the eyelid. It is more common in older adults, and usually only affect lower eyelid.

Symptoms

Entropion causes irritation and discomfort. It is very uncomfortable because eyelashes rub the cornea.

Management

If it does not treat, entropion can damage the cornea, cause ocular infections and loss of vision. The treatment is surgical.



Ectropion

What is ectropion?

It is a condition that involves the turning out of the eyelid. It is more common in older adults, and usually only affect lower eyelid.

This condition makes the inner surface exposed and prone to irritation.

Management

Artificial tears and lubricants may help relieve symptoms. But usually the surgery is necessary to correct the condition.
